Personal statement:

I am an educational psychologist and work as an associate professor at the Department of Educational Development and Research since August 2009. I am also PhD coordinator of the School of Health Professions Education and Chair of the Faculty PhD Committee. My main research interests lie in the field of metacognition, clinical reasoning, and expertise development. More specifically, I'm interested in how we can promote self-monitoring and self-regulation of learning in students and professionals. I conduct research in the domains of text comprehension and problem solving (clinical reasoning, diagnostic medical imaging). Prior to working at ED&R, I worked at the department of Psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where I co-developed the new curriculum and obtained my PhD.
